A fully opened amaryllis spreads its wide red petals within an oval frame on a black ground, its white inner markings bright against the color, a closed bud and thick stems rising beside it. This is the same flower and format as another work in this series, and looking between the two reveals that the same subject never shows you the same thing twice.
